Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in Central London

What is psychoanalysis?

Psychoanalysis is both a fundamental theory of what it is to be human and a powerful tool for alleviating suffering and re-orientating how you live.

Psychoanalysis enables you to gain a radically different orientation towards who you are and what you want. It provides relief  from and solutions to many problems including: Anxiety; Depression; Inhibitions; Problems with sex; Problems with family, friends and relationships; Symptoms with no medical explanation; Self-destructive cycles and repetitions; Questions of identity; Addiction; Trauma;  Bereavement; Life changes; Ethical dilemmas.

If you find yourself living in ways that you wish you weren't, doing things that you wish you didn't, feeling out of joint with yourself, it could be worth giving psychoanalysis a try. It can offer lasting change as well as immediate revelations and relief.

How does it work?

Through speech.

Our lives are full of contradictory forces: words, bodies, obligations, ideals, impulses, social expectations, strange desires. Language and meaning are fundamental to these forces. In unnoticed but immensely powerful ways, they shape us and, where they conflict or overwhelm us, we suffer.

Through speaking, it may become possible to recognise the way these forces constrain us, set them in new motion, unknot things that are tangled up, think and make decisions, create, take ownership of what you want. Psychoanalysis doesn't give a standard solution, it gives you time to work out one particular to you.

This is what I aim to enable you to do.

I am a psychoanalyst and psychoanalytic psychotherapist based in Fleet Street, Central London, EC4Y 1AA near to the West End, the City and the South Bank.

I work face to face and online.

I am a member of The College of Psychoanalysts - UK and The Guild of Psychotherapists and am registered with the UKCP.
